What are the areas in the east of Edmonton called?
Well, we don't have a general consensus on this. Some people call any area south of the North Saskatchewan River, South East Edmonton. Formerly it was the municipality of Strathcona. The recorded history began in the 1870s. Its first residents were an offshoot of the riff-raff and workers who resided near the old Fort Edmonton on the north side of the river.
We tend to call this area Central Southeast Edmonton, it consists of the communities south of the North Saskatchewan River all the way to the industrial areas to the south (Argyll Road).
